The big day is at hand. You've bought the chips and snacks and of course
BEER! Your buds are over and ready to go. You grab the remote and press power.
But whats this? No light! The set didn't come on. Whats going on here? Thats easy Your Wife Killed Your TV! But she did it with the best of intentions.
What happened was she dutifully cleaned the screen the day of the big game. But
she did it wrong. She didn't heed the instructions in the owners manual. Have you
read yours?? Clean with a soft damp cloth.
Instead she sprayed the windex directly on the screen and then dusted the top of
the set. While she was dusting, the windex ran down the screen and inside the
set. Dripping onto the circuit board, starting the process of corrosion.
If left unattended and/or continued drippings, the board could require major repair.
In most cases a good cleaning with alcohol will remove the corrosion. The best soloution
is not to allow any cleaner to run down to the bottom of the screen.
